Was there a thread like this?
Anyways if there was just close it:nod:
Ok so what do you think of FF 8?

Jun 18 2007, 01:52 AM
Wouldn't it be nice if you told us how you thought of it first? >.<

Anyway....Its one my favs. I think it had the best ending of any FF IMO. Its 4th on my list of fav FFs out of 10.

Opps yeah sorry..I'm the one that started the thread I should have said something^_^

Well...for me it's one of the best FF games ever made, second place on my list and I love the story even if it's based on love.

CG OMG was fantastic and the music was also pretty good. Storyline was also good and the characters were fine...if you quit some annoying characters but..anyways I love this Ff^_^

Why does it sound like football cleats whenever the characters walk ? .-.

Neal
Jun 18 2007, 02:15 AM
Yeah, its probably one of my top 3 at least. The story, characters, music and overall style is so good and yeah the ending was pretty good. :P

Ultimica always picks my shittest people when I fight her though xD I always forget she choses the characters at random.

Ultima Star
Jun 18 2007, 02:16 AM
I don't know..it was kinda annoying sometimes...I still don't get why all the characters had to follow Squall XD

and yeah Ultimecia picking random characters was so annoying....I always had to kill the ones that were unequipped and on top of that the first time she chose the party I wanted and she managed to kill them the bad party had to appear>_<

Neal
Jun 18 2007, 02:17 AM
I prefered the following than just walking inside him and dissapearing like FF7.

Hitoshura
Jun 18 2007, 02:23 AM
Ultimica always picks my shittest people when I fight her though xD I always forget she choses the characters at random.

Actually, its sort of a pattern. If Squall isn't in your party when she chooses. He WILL be the last one to show up when all the others die. Same thing goes for Rinoa too.... and basically anyone that has a Junction to them.

Ultima Star
Jun 18 2007, 02:32 AM
Ok but it's always necessary to have Squall in your party, I've never fought without him so I don't get what you said..you said if Squall isn't in your party..and that's what confused me>_<

Neal
Jun 18 2007, 02:40 AM
Squall isnt always chosen, and its a bitch when he isnt but Kira's right. If he isnt chosen you have to wait until someone dies and they get absorbed into time (lolz) then a new character is chosen at random, excluding Squall who is only put into the fight when your other reserve characters have been absorbed.

Ultima Star
Jun 18 2007, 02:44 AM
Oh, ok you were talking about the final battle then? I thought it was in the whole game XD cos everybdy knows that Squall always is there when you fight:lol:

FFVIII was my first FF game and it's still my favourite. It's a flawed game in some ways, but it'll always be special to me as the game that really got me hooked on console RPG's.

I will only said I dislike this game. Oh and you could have bumped one of the other FF game quality threads "One of my favorites" or "Worst FF IMO". Since they do the same thing yours is doing.

Its my favourite. It was the first Final Fantasy I played and the first RPG. So it introduced me to the FF series.

I cant find fault with the game and love everything about it.

People really need to start and analyze their "first" better. My first was FFVII and I know the faults of it (and it has many) because I would not let myself fall into a blindly loyal crowd.

Just because your first final fantasy wasnt your favourite, doesnt mean that applies to everyone.
Let people have their opinions.

I never said that. Im just tired of hearing in threads "Which is the best Final Fantasy" most of them say "FF[insert number here] is the best cause it was my first." Thats kinda lame if you ask me.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time is my fav Zelda, but its not my fav cause it was the first one I played, its my fav because it had the best plot and was the deepest of all Zeldas.

In my opinion, The Twilight Princess comes pretty damn close if not equal to Ocarina Of Time.

I like this game a lot. It is one of my favourites despite some obvious flaws (the fact that Selphie, Zell, Quistis and Irvine didn't get developed at all for the most part) which is a pretty big flaw, but everything else sorta makes up for it. The world is great, I unlike most people love the junction system and the boss battles were pretty fun.

The sorceress mythology was so cool too. EDEA ROCKS. Ahem.

FFVIII is on my top 3 for my favourite FF's. Its plotline was great with the Garden-Sorceress conflicts, Galbadia-Everyone else conflicts. The characters were great and, even though it wasn't the best, they had some good development and you did get to learn more about their pasts.

Junction system was ace as it could make or break your party depending on how you junctioned them. I remember my first playthrough I sucked horribly because I didn't fully understand it, but time went by, I got to appreciate it used it very strategically to make sure I pwnt everyonez.

Also, music and triple triad ftw. :cookie:

Honestly, it was Final Fantasy VIII that got me into the Final Fantasy game series. I was so crazy over the game for a long time. After that I went to play Final Fantasy X and become a complete fan (although I said that, it's only several selected title that caught my interest). Right now, I am playing Final Fantasy VII.

Off-topic but playing FFX makes you a complete fan? If it does anything it would be that Nojima fails hard as of late.

I really enjoyed 8. It's probably my favorite FF to date.

I really liked that it was much more realistic compared to most FF games. An all human cast, and a not so unrealistic plot.

It also had my alltime favorite character, Quistis. I loved everything about her character, even though she was in the background alot of the time.

I love 8 a lot.But it seems to be forgotten by people today.I hope square-enix will do something to bring FFVIII back like they did to FFVII

Definetely one of my faves (drawing with IX, I think), I just really enjoy playing it everytime. Each time I replay it I'll do something different, like taking Irvine to the moon instead of Selphie, and it just never gets old like it does in a lot of other games I've played. Plus most of my favourite characters are from this game, that definetely helps.

The whole first half of the third disk had me bawling, nothing else has EVER done that to me, ever. Though I do half blame that on the sleeploss...

Totally loved the junction system, I swear it's so annoying that almost all the people that slag it off are the people that barely tried to use it. Loved the Rinoa meteor trick for Ultimecia, too, I don't even have to look ^_^.

FF8 is my 2nd fave FF game, I've read alot of forums where people say they really didn't like the game because of the whole draw system but I actually thought that was quite nifty =]
The storyline was really good aswell, not as 'epic' as ff7 lol but it was a really good game and deserves good feedback...In my opinion anyways

Final Fantasy 8 is my 3rd favourite out of all the series, the only thing that put me off it was when you junction magic. Doesnt put me fof it though as i still play it every now and then and enjoy the story of it.

My suggestion would be to look up the definition of epic. *sigh*

Anyways, Final Fantasy VIII is my favorite of the series. Loved the characters, battle system, story, and the graphics. Triple Triad is one of the best mini games in any RPG. Music was awesome and Lionheart is the best limit of the series.

I love it a lot too, one of my favorite games. I liked how Rinoa evolved from a normal girl to a Sorceress that was something really important.
Then the schools plot was really nice, followed by great characters. Squall, a cold and lonely man, hiding always his feelings, but in the end realizing that he couldn't be away from Rinoa.
Then all of his friends supported him and they realized they knew since little children.
However it left some plot holes. I had heard rumors of Laguna being Squall's father and that Ultimecia is the future Rinoa, which they never anwered.
The only thing I didn't like about FFVIII was the magic system... Drawing magic from draw points or the enemies.

Thought that the game was alright. Don't hate it, it's a pretty cool Final Fantasy game but some things do make the game annoying/ totally random.

Love it how the game has the whole See D idea and doing missions around the world, Loved the game's music and the game's theme of dealing with a heavy past and dealing with the emotions of love.

However some of the characters got tossed to the side like they were unimportant. They made the main female Rinoa a annoying damsel, and the whole Balamb flying thing was pretty- strange.

apart from that Final Fantasy 8 is a pretty cool game.

Well this game was one of the most popular FF games in my country years ago, along with VII and X. I think it's really cool :D. The story and music are great and so is the gameplay :)

Worst Final Fantasy, in my opinion.

- Junction system sucked. It barely made any sense.
- Summons/Guardian Forces were weird.
- Story kind of sucked. "Oh yeah we were orfanz together, we just forgot lolz" <_<
- Characters were not as endearing to the player as in other FFs.

was amazed by FFVII then loved FVIII.
FFX was really damn good too!
I thought the story and the whole play thing was rather clever in FFIX though.
I remember long long ago when I played FF for the first time then FFII on the Snes(yea FFIV) those were the days.

I honestly don't care much for FF games anyways, I liked 6 and Tactics. VII is WAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY over rated in my book.

I remember when it came out I was 12 and I got it for christmas, I couldn't fucking wait for it and I bought every magazine that had any info on it, totally worth the wait, lived up to all my expectations. I'd really loved FFVII before it but I thought this blew it away. I'm glad it's remained untouched and not become overexposed and annoying like this FFVII franchise.

I couldn't play it when I was younger due to all the magic drawing... I'm one of those people that had to have 100 of every type of magic... that task in itself is more horrid than grinding for hours on end... But beyond that and some other things like that stupid band you have to make (the sound was so bad) it was pretty damn good.

Angelus-Mortis
May 05 2009, 05:49 AM
It was an okay game. After FFVII, FFVI and FFIV. At least. I'm not really into romance, so I can't say I really ever got into the storyline; parts of it didn't really make all that much sense to me. I also didn't like the drawing thing. It got annoying. I had to rely on GF abilities and draw points (which sucked near the end because they'd usually only give you 3 or less spells each time unless you were really lucky, and those spells were the best) to get any magic. The graphics and sound were nice, but there are better games out there. I might see myself returning to it, if I could get my hands on the German version, but then I'd only be doing it to learn German.

Prepare for a big post!>_< Personally I think this one of the best FF's together with FF7 and FFX. I like this game because:

-The best love story (together with FFX). The theme of love has always been a part of FF more or less and the story between them is just soo good, how Rinoa changes Squall little by little and vice versa. Squall becomes more human, Rinoa calms herself down a little. They accept each other's differences and turns into a wonderful couple. The last scene on the balcony just feels so right.:D:wub: Very good site about Rinoa here: http://rinoa.nu/rinoa/rinoa.php

-The deepest story of them all. The ending is open for discussion and interpretation and this FF definately have the deepest character development in a FF I think. Take Squall for instance. A real bastard at first.:nag: But you get to know why he has become like that and you can follow how his personality changes. He goes from refusing to rescue her in Deling city to almost giving his life for her. The story gets on your mind and you discovers new stuff even after you finished it. The story really has everything, romance (Rinoa, Squall), action (there are some exciting moments, like when they are attacked from another Garden and motorcykles "invades"), comedy (there are a lot of funny scenes with Squall and Rinoa)... the list can be made long. And then I haven't even mentioned the time travel paradoxes, Laguna's visions... etc Good article about it here: http://kotaku.com/5292917/remembering-final-fantasy-viii

-Graphics. Compare this to FF7 and the difference is huge. In some parts I think it's even hard to think that this is actually a PS1 game, like here: http://guidesarchive.ign.com/guides/11737/images/ultimecia.jpg The CG movies look a lot better too.
-Gameplay. Yup, I think the junction system is rather good. But I didn't think that at first though. I thought it was too complicated at first and didn't really understand how to use it untill the end of the game hehe. But when I did found out how it really works I realized there is not many other FF games that gives so many possibilities for customization. In the end of the game I began even enjoying the random encounters because it was fun to see how my junction "setup" worked.

-The Ending. FF8 has one of the best ending in a FF I think. It really lifts the entire game to new heights. Directly afterwards it feels like one of the best games you've ever played.

That's what I think. I remember seeing it for the first time when it was new back in 1999 (I had just bought my PS1) and thinking how incredible realistic it looked hehe. But I didn't played it untill 2008. Everything's not good though. I can think that the first disc is a little slow, it takes untill the second disc till it gets really interesting. And you must finish the game to really appriciate it, which can actually be a bad thing because I have noticed a lot of people didn't have the motivation to finish it. It's a shame because the ending is so good.

If you are a FF fan and haven't tried FF8 yet, don't hesitate! Just make sure you get pass the first disc.:)

never finished it and the little part of it that i played was weird, it seemed like a good idea but way to unpolished, BUT i liked the comedy and Squall(what an awful name) seemed cliche-ish enough to make for a good story lol

Easily the best in the series, IMO
