NOTE: IF YOU DONT HAVE A RELIGION PLEASE REFRAIN FROM POSTING IN THIS TOPIC BECAUSE I DONT FEEL LIKE READING: "OH RELIGION SUCKS, THERE AINT NO GOD BLAH BLAH BLAH." ALRIGHT? ALRIGHT.
My religion is Christian but I'm not really leaning in to a certain type of one. (Catholic, Jewish, etc.) But if I were to fall into a certain Christian category it would most likely be Babtist.
you?

I'll post anyway, even if I'm far from ranting about it o_O.
Anyway, I'm agnostic if anything. I'm starting to lean towards atheism though, but... meh.

Wow, there really is a lot of Christians in the world, not that I don't like them, since ALL of my friends are Christians
...But I'm a Buddhist... must have something to do with living in Taiwan and in a VERY religious family in my early years

I used to be Buddhist (well not really, only cause my grandparents were) but we converted awhile ago. Actually, we weren't really buddhist to start with. =/

Not to be rude or anything, but why do Catholics always show Jesus dead?
N O C T E
May 28 2007, 10:34 PM
Well, I am not Catholic, but I think it might be because he died for us to have new life, so even though in the picture he is dead, it represents new life for the world.

Couldn't have said it any better myself L-A. I think it also shows the ultimate sacrifice. "For the wages of sin is death". But Jesus beat that when he, pure and innocent, died for us on the Cross.

But, um, wasn't he ressurected? And how does dying benefit us?
In any case, I'm atheist. Well, not really. I'm not too sure about the whole omnipotent being thing. It could exist, it could not. It's just the logic of the Bible and its views on God I don't care for much. So I guess that would make me more agnostic than atheist, but I think I'll stick to atheism for now.

The reason why I dont like the Catholics showing Jesus dead is because he's alive.

The story is that Jesus was God's son, and God sent him down to earth which was full of sin, and that when God had his son killed it showed the ultimate sacrifice of love for us, the sinners who are unworthy. Also, it is said that when he died for us, he died for our own sin, so that if we commit ours lives to god, we are adimitted into heaven.
TF can most likely explain better than I.

...Anyway I'm not religious, not really sure what my beliefs are. I think I'm Church of England on my Birth Certificate but my parents aren't really religious either. Also Ragnarok, in your first post you say you aren't into a type of Christianity but you use Judaism as an example. It isn't a denomination is it? :P

Uh....the Bible. :/
Let's just put it this way. I go to a church that isn't Babtist, Catholic, whatever type there is. Mine is just a "Be thankful/Glory to God/Praise Jesus/etc." type of church.

I'm an inactive member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I haven't been to church for a very long time. Though I did make an exception this year and accompanied my formerly-estranged mom, on Mother's Day.
It was nice.. but it was kinda weird.
I would however, love to go back to church someday.
