I think it's early for speculation beacuse we know nothing about him. All I can think of is he's been a l'Cie in the past like Lightning and his summon was Bahamut. His weapon and armor could be a tribute to him/ a gift from Etro. Same thing for Lightning.

I still think it's far too likely that an earlier observation was correct and it's Cid. Especially since Lightning's apparently in a realm of magic beyond time where gods dwell. I will admit that his outfit bears some pretty strong parallels to Bahamut's design- even the energy around his sword is similar to the energy that Bahamut wielded against his enemies- but there aren't any completely unambiguous connections so I'm willing to attribute this to the game's art design being similar to the first.

This mysterious purple-haired man is more like Yaag Rosch to me than Cid Rains. However, I doubt he is going to be one of them he will be a new character. But I am somehow sure that he is strongly connected to all of these Pulse, Etro, Bahumot and Fang.

And I also believe that Lindzei (creator of Cocoon) is still alive and he is going come back to defeat Etro and protect the true maker of (Pulse, Lindzei and Etro). He was never defeated by Lightning's party in XIII or even by Ragnarok he just left Cocoon from what I have read and I don't know where on the pulse he is now lol.

As for these two Cocoon Fal'Cie (Orphan and Barthandelus) I am sure that their story is over since they were both deafted by party and Ragnarok. So there is no need for the developers team to bring them back to life again, they should only focus on Etro and Lindzei.

And I really hope that Fang and Vanille will have no role at all this time in XIII-2 cause I"m really fed up with them in XIII they were the main characters and they really ruined XIII to me.

And I really hope this time the story's focus will be on Lightning, the purple-haired man, Etro and Lindzei.

Oerba is not the only city on Gran pulse, the total population of this planet is not just to "Miss I play hard" and "Orgasmic girl" (fortunately for that matter), I just hope that it would be a bit more charismatic, may be an alter ego for lightning.

Romance is nice. That's what makes it one of the most popular subjects in the world. I don't mind if Lightning end up with someone (it would be weird if I do), just NOT cheesy romance, for example, 90% of the romance stories out there. I don't like when the whole story concentrates on romance, but as a side story I think it would be interesting to see the other side of Light.
