Hi guys. I'm still decided whether to wait for the PS3 version or to go with the PC version. The deals being

I'm finishing University this year so wouldn't be able to play it for the next 6-7 weeks anyway.
I want the one with the best graphics and smoothness of gameplay.

I don't use my PC at all for gaming, it has some good specs, but I don't think they are good by 'gaming PC' standards, I'm not sure. I ran a test, and while it says I just passed, I don't understand some of the feedback given. Could somebody please explain a little better what I need to run it at high specs?

The PS3 version is a long way away still. I was sort of hoping I could get this for the summer on PC as long as it doesn't take too much money to upgrade.

That's exactly what mine says when I do that test, and it runs decently. Amazingly when the server lag isn't an absolute beast of a problem, actually, even on high settings (though, to be honest, low and high aren't that different in this game). I'd say you could probably risk it without upgrading, but people with better computers than that still have huge problems running the game at the same time. So who knows what kind of upgrade would even really help?

My prognosis is to either wait and see if these problems managed to get fixed, and if they don't by the time the PS3 one is out, go for that. Also, when said problems are fixed, try asking again and seeing if someone with a similar system to yours can run it well or not, and you may be able to get away with it.

But as it is, I don't think you'll even really need an upgrade. And if you do, I have no idea what it would need to be. But there's my input anyway. :cookie:

Thanks. Yeah, cause I'm looking at what is says I need and what I have, and with my (sort of) knowledge of PCs I've got roughly the recommended requirements. ??

But yeah, like many, I want to play it now as opposed to 4 - 5 months time :D Maybe I'll get it on PC then on PS3 later on since you can run the same account?

Yeah, for some reason it's saying people don't have a piece of hardware that meets the requirements when really, it does. Usually it's just because it's outdated or something, even though it's still powerful enough.

Getting it on PC now and PS3 later is always a good option, IF you're willing to spend that much money on the same game twice. You'll be getting two accounts for the same game, even though you can run it with the same one, so it's kind of a waste unless you want to give your old PC copy and the new PS3 account registration code to a friend or something. It's up to you, but I wouldn't go upgrading yet when you've got results like that.

Yeah. I've still got a few weeks to decide anyway. No point buying it now if I can't play it while University is sucking my will to live. Haha. I haven't been able to play FFXIII for months.

EDIT: Found that S-E released a benchmark test for PCs. I'm downloading it now and will see how it runs. and looks on my PC :)

Interestingly I only scored a 559 on High Res and 1159 on Low Res. I'd be interesting in seeing what you scored to compare? Mine ran terribly in High Res and still a little choppy in Low Res. That's what I hate about playing games on PC, and that's why I wiped my PC and made it strictly for work and net surfing purposes about 3 years ago. There are just too many variables unless you are dedicated to forking out money to keep it up to date with the highest end parts.

At least with the PS3 you'll know you're getting what everyone else is getting, and S-E will know what you're getting too. I think I'll have to wait until PS3, it's just unfortunate by that stage that I'll be late to the game :(
