1. Does or doesnt the marlboro wand affect the death spell?

2. Is there a difference buff effectiveness wise between the marlboro wand and the nirvana?

3. Does going from 5 to 6 on your atb gage make death more effective?(death takes up all bars so i would think when you get your 6th it would make it better granted that it takes up an extra)

4. Does stacking connoisseur catalogs increase the chances of getting tetrahedrons?

6. which is the most effective weapon to dismantle for getting more tetrahedrons and as much cash back as possible?(i know its the nirvana and kains lance, but from which weapon should i upgrade them? they all cost different amounts to max out and they all give you different items in return)

7. Did you notice that there was no question 5.?

I'm just wondering if equipping more then one will increase your chances..

That question was already answered in the first topic you made. >.>

Someone said yes. Dont think thats true though. The catalog should improve the droprate by 20%? So using 5 should make it always drop.

2 - Both equipment have the "Improved Debuffing II" ability, but I can only imagine Nirvana increasing the chances of debuffs executing successfully.

3 - Makes no difference, or at least I wouldn't be able to fathom such a difference.

4 - Chances remain the same regardless of stacking.

6 - I haven't maxed out Kain's Lance, but Nirvana just seems more sensable since you'll be using Vanille's Nirvana in the process of obtaining Platinum Ingots from the Adamantoise. To reiterate, I can only think the Nirvana would at least boost the chances of debuffing slightly.

If not, you could max Kain's Lance while keeping the Malboro Wand. The items you obtain from dismantling either weapon is more than enough for upgrading back to Tier 3.

Even the guide states that you get no extra bonus for having more than one catalog.

3 - But would upgrading to the nirvana be worth upgrading granted that the extra bar takes more time to fill thus giving you less overall casts while do the death trick?

4 - But will equipping one of each guide increase your chances for both common and rare?

6 - Actually kains lance with the first spear cost me 1.7 mil to max out, and i only got 2 traps back and about 500k in materials, and as far as i know the other staffs cost more and im pretty sure that most of the nirvanas cost and extra 100000 exp to max out.

Since this topic is about "Adamantoise farming" and not specifically "King Adamantoise farming", could someone enlighten me as to what a standard adamantoise's drops are please? I'm up to chapter 11 but as I still have a hard time killing the purple behemoth things so I'm assuming that a tortoise the size of a diplodocus is still a little out of my league just yet. :)

I'm hoping that they drop something that I can farm for gil...

Its Scarletite or something, cannot remember the spelling. They are not that hard but for gil you are better off running around on the chocobo.

Many thanks kuchi, one more question though... do I get access to chocobos before the end of chapter 11, or do I have to come back after? I would dearly like to get all my weapons maxed on level 2 before I move on from here (as well as maxing everyone's crystarium as far as pos, I forsee a good many hours grinding ahead :))

EDIT - just seen your sig re the chocobos, are you referring to ci'eth stone mission 14? Or something else?

kuchi
Mar 22 2010, 02:04 PM
Thats correct. Mission you get from the stone. You can get access to all the missions before you leave chapter 11 but you realistically wont be able to do them all. Best is just to do 1-19 then do the various waypoint ones along the way to the end of the chapter.

Once again many thanks kuchi, I think I've got a pretty clear idea of my short-to-medium term goals now (at least I'm hoping that they aren't long-term, depends on how much grinding it's going to take to max out the Crystarium...)

With the growth egg you are looking at around 5 hours of grinding that spot to cap the entire crystarium.

Damn! I thought I had all this figured... What's a growth egg? A shop-bought item perchance, or a reward for 5 stars on one of the cie'th stone missions?

Complete mission 55. Death works.

Aha, so that's for levelling up later on. Good info kuchi.

I've previously played FF8 (to death, twice through - second time to full completion with all items, GFs & all characters maxed) and FF10 (only got part way through, bought strategy guide, saw how much there was to do to and got discouraged!) In FF8, the enemies you faced levelled up in line with your characters so it wasn't necessary to grind so much to complete. It would seem that getting at least close to maxed out is necessary in FF13, judging by other's posts here.

Is this a new thing in the FF series? Or was FF8 the exception?

I actually like it this way, all that grinding on FF8 just to get everything maxed seemed a little empty somehow. Not to mention that once all characters were maxed I found that the final boss's stats fell dramatically (to level 40 IIRC?) making the final battle anticlimatic.

8 was different because leveling was set and pretty similar. 10 and 13 need obviously more and more xp as the skills become better and better. For my 8 overall was one of the worst FFs whereas 10 is one of the best. There is just more of a gap for end game enemies and thats why you need the stats.
