View Full Version : Worth starting again?

Hi, new here and hoping this thread is ok here.

Basically I've put 30 hours or so into the game and whilst sailing through quite nicely, I've done some terrible, terrible nooby things like sell Uranite and not realised organic components add multiplyers etc. Meaning I have been bad at economising and wasted tonnes and tonnes of precious exp. Not to mention regretting the way I've gone about the Crystarium.

I'm at the end of Chapter 10 having just defeated Raines and knowing I'm about to hit Chapter 11 where the game stops being quite so linear is it possible to make up my lost ground in Gran Pulse? Or is it likely it's gunna be much more of an effort grinding and grinding than actually just starting again and being a little more smart and vigilant to everything?

Thanks.

All that gold you think you wasted you will get back from vendoring one trash item when you can kill some of the big turtles in chapter 11. What you think that has been wasted can be got back in a couple of hours.

You'll make up for it later on, it's no huge deal and definitely not worth starting over. The scale of all that stuff dramatically increases. I felt a bit stupid after spending so much time grinding in earlier chapters since you don't really get much out of it (because of the limits on the crystarium) and by the time you get to later chapters and other crystarium levels all that CP you stored up earlier on doesn't amount to much.

At the moment I am getting 12.6k CP for an 11-15 second fight so really dont worry about the Crystarium. Chapter 11 really opens up the game, in like 10 hours you will be thinking .... how could I have even thought about starting again!

What I do for now on is just buy a bunch of sturdy bones and ultracompact reactors and sell everything else.(except for the catalyst material) That combo will make you jump a crap load of levels and before you know it, you'll be ready to upgrade to a ultimate weapon. It's not hard at all. Just the farming for gil part is but there are good and easy ways to get a bunch of it. So I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Plus there are some great spots to farm for CP too. When you get to chapter 13, make sure you kill as many of those samurai type guys as possible before moving on and saving it. It's 32,000 CP right there. You can't return to this spot too so milk it for what it's worth.

As people have mentioned; definitely don't start again if you've yet to even begin Chapter 11.

That is the chapter where you can basically put right all of the mistakes you may have made in the Crystarium grid, as well as earn the most money and items. You'll easily make up for whatever you lost earlier on.

I agree, I made about 10x as much gil as I'd previously had throughout the game from just selling one Gold Nugget.

Nice, one more thing I've tried searching for on here but can't seem to find is when the Sturdy Bones and Superconductors become available in the shops?

I believe they become available after a set number of mission completions.

Don't quote me on that however, I am not that far into my second playthrough where I am aiming to master each weapon, and complete everything; so I can't say for sure.

Sturdy Bones are very early. Superconductors are chapter 9 if I remember. Turbochargers are pretty good too if I remember, might have been Crankshafts. Buy one of each from the shop and play around with what you have available. Have a read of the weapon upgrade thread, theres pretty much all the info you need there with regards to upgrading in general.

I;d only start over if I really wanted to, like the others say you can easily make it up.
