Hi everyone, basically has anyone devised a formula to work out how many of a certain item they need to level a weapon from L1 - *

i have the collectors stratergy guide and it tells me that every weapon has a base xp and a increase that remands the same each level.

For examlpe Snows weapon paladin has a base level exp of 1200 and a increase of 225 per level .

bascially has anyone devised a basic formula to work out how much xp is needed to level it from level 1 to its * ( in this case 21)

i worked out that i need 72450 experiance to level paladin from level 1 to 21 . that works out a stack off 144 turbojets with a x3 multiplier at presant however it took me a good deal of time to reach this. so just wonders if anyone has a forumula were i can just swap the base stat weapon level or experiance increase to get a overall xp requirement



hope that makes sense and someone can help :)

Wouldn't this be a simple: Rate EXP goes up * Level + (Base EXP * Level)
So for level 16 lets say
225*16 +(1200*16)=4080+19200
=23280
Either I'm wrong ( I suspect) or you are wrong about how much EXP is needed for level 21

It should be zx+zya where x=base xp needed, y=incremental amount, z=desired level change (i.e. level 1 going to level 21 would be 20 or 20 to 40 would be 19), and a=z/2

example:
zx+zya
20(1200)+20(225*10)
24000+20(2250)
25200+47250
72450

I haven't tested it out a bunch yet but got my equations from patterns and trial and error.

that is what i did at 1st but then if you do 225 x 16 / 21 then you are increasing it by 225 from the base stat for each level not the previous level

e.g.

L1 = 1200xp
L2 = 1200 + 225
L3 = 1200 + 225 + 255

and so on

doing 225 x 16 would only Add the 1st lot of 225's not the rest added for the rest of the levels

It should be zx+zya where x=base xp needed, y=incremental amount, z=desired level change counting current level (i.e. level 1 going to level 21 would be 21 or 20 to 40 would be 20), and a=(z-1)/2

example:
zx+zya
21(1200)+21(225*10)
24000+20(2250)
25200+47250
72450

I haven't tested it out a bunch yet but got my equations from patterns and trial and error.


thanks pal that seems to all work out to me , jut a few things i wondered how you got though



Firstly will this equation actually work going from 20 to 40 if so would it be just the same

20 levels difference = (20-1)/2 = 9.5

40(1200) + 40(225*9.5)





secondly a big thankyou for taking the time to do this and i hope others get good use out of it too

From 20 to 40 you wouldnt use the 40 as a multiplier, just the level difference of 20. The 9.5 you came up with should work too. I hope this helps you.

it seems to so far and the ending total xp from L1 > * seems lot more realistic and in cue to what the strat guide says )

good estimates all around for weapons

50 k to first *
450k to second *

i read that in the guide also however using that method does cause alot of waste.

for example the paladin weapon needs 70k xp so if u use the estimate to get to 50k you then need to rebuy your multiplier materials and work out how mch you need for next 20k

buy using that formula you can work out exactly how many you need with minimal waste and if you do this before leveling and collect the item you are using for leveling you only need to purchuse one multiplier stack too :) in the long run savin you moneys and lots of frustrating leveling :P

This page has all the info for the weapons (in Japanese and for japanese vers.).
From top to bottom - Lightning, Sazh, Snow, Hope, Vanille, Fang.
U might have to guess which weapon is which (try based on the base atk value and special ability).

that forumla i dont think totally works going 1-21 does or 1 - were-ever

however one of my weapons is level 18 and needs to get to 21 and that forumla says i only need 4k xp

3(1200) + 3 (225*1)

3600 + 675

im wondering were i have the 1 ive done level increase which 18-21 is 3 -1 = 2 / 2 = 1 ...

but if i did it as 21 as their is 21 levels in the "phase" of Level1> L* giving me a muliplier of 10 i think i will get a more realistic result..

I guess I should have clarified, the base XP is the XP you are at during that level, so if from 18 it takes 3600, that's you're new base.

I actually used this yesterday and efficiently leveled up 3 weapons to max tier 2 with minimal waste.

EDIT: I also fixed the formula a bit. Due to the wording I had for figuring the level multiplier, I added in an unneeded step with the whole (z-1)/2 and fixed it to just z/2 and reworded the level multiplier.

ive tweaked it a little too not sure what i did but its workin leveled bout 10 weapons from 1-* and one from 18 to 21 with no problem and it tally's up to that jap site

I found this formula on a different board and it seems to work great.

(Base EXP * Max Level) + (((Max Level - 1) * Max Level) /2 ) * Increment Exp

So your example would look like (1200 * 21) + (((21 - 1) * 21) /2) * 225 = 72450

Right. Time for my A Level in maths to finally pay off.

Let's use the Sorcerer's Mark accessory as an example.

At level 1, it requires 1560 XP to level up.
At level 2, it requires 2196 XP to level up.
At level 3, it's 2832. And so on.

It increases by 636 for each level. This is an arithmetic progression.

The sum of an arithmetic progression is expressed as:

Sn=0.5*n(2a+(n-1)d)

Where:
n=Number of level-ups desired (eg. Sorcerer's Mark Lv.1 to Lv.11 (max) makes n=10)
d=XP increment between levels
a=Base XP
Sn=XP required to get to desired level

I can't think of any reason why this shouldn't work when starting at any level, provided you use that level's required XP as base XP (a).

Should any fault arise with this, please feel free to let me know.
And I thought I'd never use this outside college...

To be honest I can't believe its hasn't been posted in a sticky yet (well at least in a non wall of numbers format). I started doing a spread sheet as I upgraded weapons but didn't really pay attention to accessories. Its not complete yet but I guess when I am done I will try and clean it up and post the exp needed to star each weapon as that is all you really need to know.
Someone doing the same for accessories would be great as well.
