Eurogamer earlier got in touch with Square-Enix to confirm what had been said by Nomura in the Famitsu scans about Final Fantasy Versus XIII's development being on hold. According to Square-Enix, the reports are false and Final Fantasy Versus XIII is still being developed.
It turns out that what Nomura meant to say is that sometimes when the Versus team has some free time, they help out the Final Fantasy XIII team with development. In other words, these team members haven't been moved, just help out when they have nothing to do. I suppose that's a good thing then.

Although this is an extremely late find (from 26th September last year) I haven't seen this posted on any other sites. A person attending last years Tokyo Game Show recorded a video of the plasma screen outside Square-Enix's Closed Mega Theater. Although it appears very small in the video, a trailer including the Skirt Girl beginning her fight with the protagonist can be seen playing with a few seconds of new footage. This is the first time she has been seen in motion.

With the release of Dramatica yesterday, someone has kindly ripped Somus, the bonus track from Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
Without the background noises and in full quality 256kbs, it is much easier to hear the lyrics, making the pronouncation much clearer, so lets hope this helps people to interpret and translate the lyrics a bit better this time.

For some reason, only surfacing now, someone during the Tokyo Game Show has recorded the audio (only the audio, sadly)from the Final Fantasy Versus XIII trailer shown at the event. Sadly, the quality is fairly low and you can't really hear that much due to the background noise (except a new violin solo near the beggining) but I figured it might be something people would want to hear. This is perhaps the bonus track from Yoko Shimomura's CD releasing in March. Hopefully we will have the full quality version up then.

According to a member of Neogaf, the music track "Versus Theme" has been leaked onto the internet which has supposedly come from the Yoko Shimomura CD.
It is uncertain whether this is actually music from Final Fantasy Versus XIII because the CD isn't supposed to be out until March, but it certainly fits the mood of the game.
UPDATE: The track has been confirmed to be fake. It's a song entitled Makubex from the anime GetBackers. Here is a preview of the album where the track is from. Getbackers Soundtrack Preview

Yoko Shimomura, the composer of the music for the Kingdom Hearts series among other titles is also writing/composing the music for Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Releasing March 26, 2008 she has compiled a CD of her "Very best work" for her 20th anniversary.
It seems as though her Very Best Work CD will come with a Final Fantasy Versus XIII "bonus track" according to HMV.JP. The CD will also include tracks from Kingdom Hearts, Front Mission, Secret of Mana.
We're hoping that it's the full version of the only trailer music which has been hear so far in Final Fantasy Versus XIII which you can listen to here. A full version would of course be longer and higher quality without the sound effects from the trailer.
Since they are able to release a track so early, can we assume that the soundtrack is now finished?

The new issue of Gemaga magazine is coming out on the 30th January in Japan and it has even more details on Final Fantasy XIII and Versus. Nomura is also going to comment in the article too.
Some details on the Versus characters from the article have been revealed early.
The symbols which appear behind the protagonist and girl (seen here) are supposed to be involved in the battle system as well as the plot of the game. The relationship between the main character and the girl has something to do with the Shakespeare quote shown in the E3 2006 trailer ("There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.")

Among the images in the earlier posted Famitsu Scans are supposedly real-time in game images of Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Specifically, these two (click the thumbnail to enlarge):

Now if you look closely, while the graphics are outstanding all in the screenshots, there is an obvious difference in the level of detail. For now, this is just rumor, however Nomura has said that his team are aiming to use the full specifications of the Playstation 3, and they just might be on their way to achieving it.

The new issue of Famitsu slated for a release on the 25th has been released early and some people have already got their hands on it. From a photo taken by the Apocalypse blog it looks like a new Final Fantasy Versus XIII Screenshot is featured on the page photographed. There could be even more new screenshots inside. From another post on the blog, it's revealed that an interview with the developers is also in this issue. We'll post the scans as soon as they're available. Famitsu Versus Photo One
Update: Two new Photos have appeared. The first shows the Pigtailed girl from FFXIII in a new screenshot and the second, the girl from Final Fantasy Versus XIII wielding a Rapier sword.
